The Legend of Erie Canalside General Stores

May 20, 2015 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Step back in time to hear tales from one of the most noteworthy businessmen of New York’s Erie Canal Era, as Jim Brady portrays Hiram G. Hotchkiss, prominent businessman of Lyons, NY. Experience the charm of yesterday’s canalside stores where a mix of extraordinary merchandise, old time candy, toys and tales along the banks of the Erie Canal in Upstate New York will be told.

Learn how Hiram founded and grew his award winning Peppermint Essential Oil business along the Erie Canal in Lyons to become the International Peppermint Capital of the World.

The event is co-sponsored by Port Byron Lock 52 and Montezuma Historical Societies. There will be a baked goods sale and peppermint treats for all to enjoy. You won’t want to miss learning about the “world’s oldest medicine.”
