Trailhead #1 High Street Entrance north of the Firehouse onto the tow-path Byron Lapp Memorial Trail; .8-mile to the Richmond Aqueduct and other trails in the park. A map, brochures and sign-in are located in the kiosk.
Trailhead #2 Chapman Road Entrance (off High Street) near the Highway Barn. At the parking lot is a kiosk with maps, sign-in and brochures. Here is the entrance to Trail #2, the Aqueduct Trail heading west to the Seneca River and the remains of the Richmond Aqueduct, about .4 mile. It also connects to Trail #3, Lock 62 Trail on the south side of the remains of Clinton’s Ditch and Trail #7, the Lock Tenders Trail on the towpath side of Clinton’s Ditch. Part I – of an online tour in the park with Mike Riley as your guide starting at the Chapman Road Kiosk along the Aqueduct Trail #2, and Lock 62 Trail #3, covering the remains of Lock 62 on the original Erie Canal Clinton’s Ditch.
Part II – Seneca River (Richmond) Aqueduct
Trail #4 – Paper Mill Trail (Berm side of the remains of Enlarged Erie Canal) – Enter the trail southwest of the Kiosk #2 on Chapman Road. On the south side of the trail there is a marker near the site of the remains of the Montezuma Fibre Company. Mike Riley describes the history of the mill in this video.
Part IV – Trail #6 — Cayuga -Seneca Canal Trail and Remains of Lock 11 — Enter on the east side of Chapman Road
